The first batch of the MIUI 12.5 stable version update has been pushed, and the second round of OTA updates is expected to start in June. Although Xiaomi previously emphasized that the change of MIUI 12.5 is no less than a major version iteration, many Mi fans are obviously looking forward to the arrival of MIUI 13.
There are reports that MIUI 13 is scheduled for the second quarter of this year, and a reference release time is June 25.
In terms of supported models, the Xiaomi Mi 9 series, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, the Redmi Note 8 series and the Redmi 8 series will be the first to be excluded from the list.
Currently, as for MIUI 12.5, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is in the first batch of models to get it. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and Mi 8 series will also be upgraded in the future.
Though there is still no information what changes MIUI 13 will bring, it is not difficult to guess that the lock screen, main interface, negative one screen, animation effects, fluency, privacy and security, and battery life will be completely changed and/or improved.
In comparison to the initial MIUI 12, the newest version is lighter, faster and more economical. The UI system is completely re-written, and the memory usage of core scenes is reduced by 20%. The system application power consumption decreased by an average of 25%. In addition, through a comprehensive uninstallable special item, apps that cannot uninstall desktop icons are minimized.
