Will Honor Launch Smartphone Running On Hongmeng OS?

On August 10, Huawei’s Honor business department president Zhao Ming officially released the Honor Smart Screen products running Hongmeng OS (aka Harmony OS). Among them, the Honor Wisdom Screen’s price is 3799 yuan ($538), while the PRO version is available at 4799 yuan ($679). It is already available for pre-order. The pre-sale period will end on August 15.

After the Honor Smart Screen conference ended, Zhao Ming accepted the media interview. When asked if Honor will launch a smartphone running on Hongmeng OS, he replied, ‘There is no final conclusion. The Hongmeng OS has been developed with quite another purpose in mind. And at the moment, we are cooperation with its team. But for the future products, we can’t say anything for sure.’

Previously, Yu Chengdong said that Hongmeng OS can be used for smartphones, but for ecological reasons, Google Eco is preferred. If you can’t use Android, you will use Hongmeng.

Well, as for the first product running on this operating system, the Honor Smart Screen is an outstanding product, which is going to gather the whole family together again. It’s going to not only a multimedia content center but also an information-sharing center and more. On the screen side, this TV product adopts a 55-inch 4K UHD full-screen. The latter has an 87% NTSC wide color gamut, 178° wider viewing angle and 400nit brightness. The screen ratio is 94%.

In terms of hardware performance, the Honor Smart Screen is equipped with the Hongjun 818 processor. The CPU of the Hongjun 818 chip includes two A73 big cores and two A53 small cores. It also integrates four Mail-G51 GPU cores. The Hongjun 818 supports MEMC dynamic picture compensation, HDR high dynamic range imaging, SR super-division algorithm, NR noise reduction algorithm, DCI dynamic contrast enhancement, ACM automatic color management, and LD partition control.
