Tesla Asks Suppliers to Speed up Parts Delivery


Electric vehicle maker Tesla ask its suppliers to speed up the delivery of Model Y parts. This may lead to Model Y mass production six months in advance.

In March of this year, Tesla launch the Model Y. Model Y is a cross-border sports utility vehicle that can carry up to 7 passengers and has a range of up to 300 miles (about 482 kilometers). It has a standard version, long-wheel drive version, and dual-motor all-wheel drive board 4 versions of endurance version and dual-motor all-wheel drive performance version.

Tesla originally plans to start Model Y production in the fall of 2020. Later the company push Model Y production into production from the fall of 2020 to the summer of 2020.

According to the reports Tesla may start production of Model Y earlier than expected. Because several Tesla suppliers claim that Tesla has ask them to start mass production of the Model Y parts 6 months in advance. In other words, the company’s suppliers will produce Model Y parts as early as the fourth quarter of 2019.

Moreover, media reports said that Tesla issue notices one after another. Requiring suppliers to prepare Model Y for mass production in advance, about six months earlier than originally plan.

Foreign media expects the first batch of Model Y to be produce at the Fremont plant from February to March 2020. Tesla will increase production to about 1,000 vehicles per week in the next few months .

In addition, the Tesla Semi semi-trailer project also requires accelerated parts delivery, but no specific time has been set. Last month, the company said that Semi semi-trailers will be “in limited production” by 2020.
