News As Xiaomi Fired Mi VR/Oculus Go Development Team Are False

Recently, there were rumors that Xiaomi fired the entire Mi VR/Oculus Go development team, including 12 employees who were originally responsible for maintaining and developing the platform. In response to this news, Xiaomi told the media that there is no truth in the above news. However, Xiaomi did not disclose more information.

Prior to this, Facebook announced that it will work with Xiaomi to develop a $200 virtual reality headset Oculus Go (the Xiaomi version is called Mi VR). Previously, a VR blog called The Ghost Howls reported that Xiaomi had disbanded the entire Mi VR/Go development team, including 12 employees who were responsible for maintaining and developing the platform. The blog said the news came from a ‘very reliable’ source.

In the absence of confirmation that Xiaomi will disband the VR team, a Facebook spokesperson told foreign media: ‘We don’t comment on our future product roadmap, but the Oculus Go helmet is still the best to enjoy immersive entertainment. It is a great device for anyone who is just trying out virtual reality. We are still producing and selling Oculus Go, and we will continue to let our community know about any updates to our portfolio.’

In the past, Xiaomi has created a couple of VR headsets. We can’t say those products were very popular because the manufacturer has had no serious ambitions in the niche. But after Facebook cooperation, we were hoping to see good in the future. At the moment, Xiaomi rejects the aforementioned news. But something tells us we will hear more about this soon.
