On February 11, the 2020 German iF Design Award was officially announced. After 76 years, it adheres to the concept of “independence, rigor, and reliability” and is one of the most authoritative and influential industrial design awards in the world.
A total of 7,298 works were submitted by 56 countries and regions this year. But only 75 of them won the highest honor gold medal.
Many outstanding works from China have also been widely recognized. Xiaomi’s design team won 33 iF awards in one fell swoop. And the Mijia handheld wireless vacuum cleaner won a heavy gold award.
This is also the third time in the history of Xiaomi that it has won the iF Design Gold Award. The previous two were the Mijia LED smart table lamp in 2017 and the Mijia panoramic camera in 2018.
The iF judges believe that the Mijia handheld wireless vacuum cleaner uses the iconic color style of white, orange, and silver. The white stylish design matches the modern home. The orange engine highlights the power and the functional details, creating a charming design style. And it has achieved a balance in function and size, reasonable price, excellent quality, and very convenient to use.
This year Xiaomi has won the most iF design awards. It also covers the widest range, involving smartphones, smart home peripherals, user experience design, packaging design, etc. There are even several special editions for India. These products can also be regarded as a cultural output.
