The government refused to discuss the risks it considered to be Huawei. The supplier was frustrated. He adds that his biggest concern is that “the employment opportunities in the United States are threatened”.
“We can’t talk to the government right now. Our suppliers and customers are dealing with them. We are trying to send a message to our suppliers, that is, 130 US companies, $11 billion a year, providing more than 40,000 jobs”.
As a result of the ban, Huawei “is now making our 5G technology with zero US ingredients.”
Purdy opens a door to correct the situation and said he hopes to buy products from the US again. But now Huawei is sourcing elsewhere to ensure support for customers around the world.
“If we are forced to do so, we will buy from other people. This will hurt and lose a lot of employment opportunities in the United States. It will be meaningless.”
In the interview, Purdy also discussed the impact of Huawei’s troubles on rural areas in the United States, and how to learn from EU counterparts to establish a broader security framework.
