According to South Korean users, the price of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chip in the order signed by Xiaomi is around $250. At the same time, the current delivery price of the Snapdragon 865 is mostly between $150-$160. Therefore, Xiaomi’s internal high-level officials have continued to dispute the pricing of the next generation of Xiaomi flagship models.
The price does not only refer to the price of AP but the price of the integrated package including the X60 modem.
According to some Xiaomi insiders, Xiaomi executives are currently discussing the pricing of its next flagship model.
What’s interesting, a Weibo blogger revealed that the price of the Snapdragon 875 chipset is as high as $220. But at the moment, we can’t say whether the latter refers to the price in China or in the US. As you know, the import taxes, especially for such components, are too high in China. A couple of years ago, the Chinese government has decided to increase these taxes. As a result, most China-based first-tier manufacturers have had to increase prices for their smartphones. Xiaomi, as one of them, had to offer flagships priced more than 2000 yuan.
Anyways, as for the Snapdragon 875, it may bring a real super-core Cortex X1 in real sense. ARM claims that it will provide about 30% higher peak performance than the Cortex-A77. In addition, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 may continue the combination of ‘1+3+4’, using Cortex X1+Cortex A78 combination.
If the rumors are true, it indicates that the price of Xiaomi’s flagship model in 2021 may usher in a substantial increase.
