The OPPO A8 and OPPO A91 smartphones have already opened appointments. Both aim to deliver great bang for your buck by offering mid-range specs at affordable prices. They will be launched in China initially, and we are yet to hear if other markets will get them and when.
Comparative characteristics of the two smartphones
The OPPO A8 smartphone uses MediaTek MTK P35 processor, 4GB memory and 128GB storage space. The battery capacity of the smartphone is 4230mAh. The software front is covered by ColorOS 6.1 which sits on top of Android 9 Pie. In terms of photography, you can use the front 8MP camera. The rear three cameras are a 12MP main camera + 2MP macro + 2MP depth of field.
In terms of display, it sports a 20:9 6.5-inch waterdrop screen with a resolution of 1600 * 720. There’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Moreover, it’s already up for reservation while official sales again start on December 26.

The OPPO A91 has three colors: dark stars, modern bright red, and snow-melting light. It uses a 20:9 6.4-inch AMOLED waterdrop screen with a resolution of 2400 * 1080. The smartphone supports VOOC flash charge 3.0. And the battery capacity is 4025mAh. On the software part, we have ColorOS 6.1 with Android 9 on top.
In terms of hardware, it adopts MediaTek MTK P70 processor, 8GB memory and 128GB storage space. What about the camera, the front camera is 16MP. Around the back, there’s a quad-camera setup with a 48MP primary shooter, 8MP ultrawide cam, a 2MP macro snapper, and 2MP depth helper. In addition, the smartphone also has functions such as light-sensitive screen fingerprint 3.0 and K-ear return 2.0.
Official sales are scheduled to start on December 26.
The 4GB + 128GB version of OPPO A8 costs 1199yuan ($167). The 8GB + 128GB version of OPPO A81 costs 1999yuan ($279).
