Huawei has officially released the new Kirin 990 processor at the IFA 2019 conference in Berlin. This processor will debut with the Huawei Mate 30. And … Huawei’s foldable smartphone the Huawei Mate X will also be equipped with it. However, it seems that the company has another plan for the Mate X.

According to TechRadar, the Chinese tech giant officially said that the Huawei Mate X will have two versions. One of them will be equipped with the Kirin 990 processor, and the other version will be equipped with the Kirin 980 processor.
Earlier, there was news that the Huawei Mate X will have a 5G version. But the source has not confirmed whether there is a 4G version as well. Although the Kirin 990 can also be used as a 4G chip, Huawei obviously hopes that the Mate X 5G can be equipped with the Kirin 990 processor. If the news is true, the model with the Kirin 980 should be the 4G version of Huawei Mate X. After all, the Mate X showed on the MWC in February this year uses the Kirin 980 processor.
In terms of software, the Mate X runs on EMUI 10, and Huawei has made some adjustments to the design details of Mate X. Say it has changed the material of the expansion button on the back.
Yu Chengdong, Huawei CEO, said: ‘In the beginning, we wanted to officially release the Mate X in August [2019], and we postponed it. Maybe it will be released next month.’ In addition, he also said that the mass production of this phone will be a challenge. In addition to the price of the parts themselves, there are many factors to consider.
