On December 1, Qualcomm is going to announce the Snapdragon 875 mobile platform as its next flagship chipset. This SoC will be replacing the Snapdragon 865 SoC that fueled most of the flagship phones running on Android OS this year. A Chinese tipster has claimed that sooner or later a custom-made flagship chipset possibly dubbed as Snapdragon 870 could be powering an OPPO smartphone.
The Snapdragon 870 is not an official name, but it is obvious that the SoC will be less powerful than the current SD865 chip. According to the tipster, the SD870 that can clock at around 3.2GHz will be more powerful than the SD865 theoretically but less powerful than the upcoming SND875.
The SD870 will be a custom-made chip that will fuel a forthcoming flagship. There is no word on when Qualcomm or OPPO will reveal more details on the chip. Besides, the name of the OPPO smartphone that will feature the SD870 chip is under wraps.
