Redmi K40 Got Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio Quality Certification

The Redmi K40 series smartphones are about to hit the market. Recently, Redmi’s official Weibo has exposed a series of configuration information for the new smartphones. Say, we learned that the K40 series smartphones have Dolby Atmos certification․ It can eliminate crosstalk and simulate spatial surround sound effects. Today, Redmi released a poster indicating that the K40 series phones have obtained Hi-Res high-resolution audio quality certification and Hi-Res high-resolution wireless audio certification. Officially, the K40 flagships will have higher audio resolution, greater dynamic range, and greater frequency response.

Hi-Res certification is common for HiFi headsets and music players DAP. Its initiator is Sony. It was jointly recognized by the Japan Audio Association, Consumer Technology Association (CTA), Digital Entertainment Group (DEG), and major record companies and recording companies. The standard stipulates that the indicators of audio files need to exceed the sound quality of CDs, such as 24bit/192kHz; the parameters of audio playback devices also need to meet certain requirements.

At present, the Japan Audio Association (JAS) issues the Hi-Res certification. And the device needs to support LDAC or LHDC protocol to obtain the small gold standard of Hi-Res wireless audio. The Hi-Res certification official website that the two models code-named K11 and K11A from Xiaomi were certified in January 2021. According to previous news, these two models are the Redmi K40 series. The series will include two models. They come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888 processors. And they all support 120Hz high refresh rate.

The Redmi K40 is confirmed to come with the same screen as the Mi 11. Lu Weibing also revealed that the Redmi K40 will have “the most expensive face-to-face screen in history”. It will also adopt a single punch-hole screen. By the way, the hole aperture is the smallest (2.8mm) in the industry. Moreover, we know all Redmi series models will sport OLED high-resolution screens. And all use Samsung’s latest E4 flexible screen.

The Samsung E4 luminous material can significantly increase the screen brightness to an unprecedented 1500nits. The global maximum brightness is also as high as 900nits, the contrast can also be improved. The power consumption of the previous generation E3 material is lower.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 also obtained the DisplayMate A+ rating for the screen made with this new material and refreshed 13 records. At the same time, it includes the highest screen resolution, highest OLED peak brightness. Besides, it also includes the highest color accuracy, highest contrast, and lowest screen reflectivity.

Of course, some models will come with the Snapdragon 888. But there will be at least one model with a Snapdragon 870.

In terms of cameras, the Redmi k40 series will adopt a rear quad-camera combination. In addition, the main camera should be a 64-megapixel lens. The Pro+ may use a 100-megapixel lens. The main camera will be coupled with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a macro lens, and perhaps a telephoto lens. In the front camera, the phone will adopt a hole-punch screen.

The battery capacity of this phone is likely to be around 4700mAh. Moreover, it will support 33-watt wired fast charging. Though wireless fast charging is likely to be missing. A few days ago, Lu Weibing also posted the battery life chart of the Redmi k40 phone. If it is like the picture posted by Lu Weibing, then the battery life of this phone will reach more than 35 hours in normal use.
