Xiaomi has confirmed that the Xiaomi Future Image Technology Communication Conference will be held on August 7. But many Mi fans are not aware of what this means. Today, Xiaomi Mobile Product Marketing Director has confirmed one of the ‘leading characters’ of this communication meeting – 64MP-powered Redmi products. Plus, there will be other products as well.

We know Xiaomi has already applied for patents of various camera technologies such as the periscope lens and the screen camera. However, there is no mass production model released. So it’s hard to guess whether the manufacturer will introduce related products in this future video technology communication meeting.

At the moment, the only 64MP sensor is Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1. Through pixel-combined Tetracell technology and re-picking algorithm, GW1 can generate bright 16MP images in low-light environments and 64MP images in brighter environments. The GW1 is equipped with dual conversion gain (DCG). The high-performance phase-detection autofocus technology Super PD provides clearer images and supports full HD recording at 480 frames per second (fps).
Prior to this, Redmi demonstrated the 64MP camera phone by releasing a real sample. It’s believed the manufacturer will put this sensor in the Redmi Note 8. Though this series handsets have never been known for their strong camera capabilities, the mentioned model is promised to come with quite powerful features. When launched, it will compete with not only the Honor models and the likes. The Samsung Galaxy A70s is the first handset with this sensor.
On the other hand, there are expectations that we will see the Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 powered by this lens. But it’s less possible to see this phone at the conference on August 8.
