Samsung Galaxy A70s To Be The First With 64MP CMOS

Not long ago, Samsung Electronics introduced two new 0.8-micron (μm) pixel image sensors. One is the 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 CMOS, and the second one is the 48MP ISOCELL Bright GM2 CMOS. Now, the Korean ET News website reports that the Samsung Galaxy A70S is expected to be launched in the second half of 2019, and this product will be equipped with its own ISOCELL Bright GW1 image sensor.

It is reported that ISOCELL Bright GW1 is a 64MP image sensor, which is the highest resolution in the lineup of Samsung’s 0.8μm pixel image sensors. Through pixel-combined Tetracell technology and re-picking algorithm, the GW1 can generate bright 16MP images in low light environments and 64MP images in brighter environments. The GW1 is equipped with dual conversion gain (DCG), while the high-performance phase-detection autofocus Super PD technology provides clearer images and supports full HD recording at 480 frames per second (fps).

In addition to this, the GW1 sensor supports HDR up to 100 dB which helps to increase the vividness of colors. For the moment we don’t know anything else about the Samsung Galaxy A70s, except that it should be a technical update of the product launched last month.

According to leaked news, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 10 smartphone in the second half of 2019. But it may not use the 64MP image sensor because Samsung Electronics has adopted a product strategy for mid-range smartphones. In other words, it is going to put new technologies to the products that are available for larger masses. In fact, the company follows this strategy since the second half of 2018. If so, there is every reason to predict Samsung’s return to its leading positions not only in the smartphone market but also in other markets where it had lost its authority.
