Xiaomi and VIVO To Launch 10,000 yuan ($1548) Smartphones This Year

Almost all China-based first-tier smartphone makers invest a lot in research and development. In this regard, we should be very attentive towards those companies that are going to release a folding screen smartphone this year because it is going to become mainstream. In this sense, today, we learned that Xiaomi and VIVO will release similar handsets but both will cost more than 10,000 yuan ($1548).

It is worth mentioning that Lei Jun raised a question on Weibo recently: ‘If Xiaomi sells a smartphone that sells for more than 10,000 yuan, would you buy it?’ And though he didn’t mention a selected product, we will get more news about Xiaomi’s 10,000 yuan machine at the Mi Fan New Year’s Eve dinner on February 7.

Regarding the 10,000 yuan smartphones, the price of the iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB version has reached more than 10,000 yuan; the Huawei Mate 40 RS Porsche design is priced from 11,999 yuan to 13,999 yuan; the OPPO Find X2 Pro Lamborghini version is priced at 12,999 yuan. In addition, as early as 2019, Xiaomi announced a MIX Alpha surround screen concept machine, it was priced as high as 19,999 yuan ($3095). But this phone is not mass-produced and is not on the market.

We mean if Xiaomi and VIVO launch true flagship smartphones with a folding screen solution, the price of 10,000 yuan will be quite logical. We don’t say it is a regular price for flagship phones on the market. But we do say that this is the price of a folding screen smartphone, at least, this year.
