Xiaomi Planning To Launch More Flagship Smartphones In India This Year

According to 91mobiles reports, Xiaomi-related officials said in an interview that Xiaomi is preparing to launch more advanced smartphones in the Indian market this year.

Recently, Raghu Reddy, head of Xiaomi India’s online sales and category, said in an interview with the Economic Times that Xiaomi and Redmi have a clear business division of labor in the Chinese market. The Xiaomi series represents high-end features and innovation, but it is basically not seen in the Indian market. We hope to achieve this goal by 2020. Xiaomi will expand the high-end smartphone product line in 2020. And the smart TV product line will also launch more products.

Xiaomi first launched the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone in the Indian market, followed by the Xiaomi Mi 4 and Xiaomi Mi 5. But Xiaomi’s Mi series is no longer the focus. Reddy said that since 2017, our Xiaomi flagship product has basically disappeared, and the only one that exists is the Xiaomi A series product (Android One). In the future, the Xiaomi brand in India will focus on INR 20,000 (about $282) and above smartphone market.

Finally, Xiaomi announced this week that it has also announced ‘POCO’ as an independent brand, which indicates that POCO may soon release the POCO F2 and maybe we will see more POCO brand smartphones in 2020.

Though the company is now planning to launch more flagship smartphones in the country this year, this does not mean that the brand will stop refreshing the Redmi devices. In other words, there is every reason to see flagship smartphones from all three Xiaomi lines of Mi, Redmi, and POCO. We assume the brand might start the game with its Mi Mix Alpha and Mi Note 10. Even though the Mi Mix Alpha has already been listed on Xiaomi’s website, it still has not gone on any sale.
