With the listing of Dimensity 800 series 5G processors, MediaTek has finally become a hit in the 5G smartphone market. The Xiaomi Redmi 10X series was the first to come with this chip. And it made this SoC even more popular. Moreover, the Redmi 10X is very popular now, and MediaTek has urgently pursued 50% of orders. TSMC is scheduled to have more 7nm capacity.

Although the Redmi 10X series currently mainly uses the Dimensity 820 processor, other manufacturers will soon follow up. Among them, we can mention Samsung, VIVO, OPPO and other companies that are increasing orders for MediaTek. In fact, these manufacturers want to seize the market left by Huawei space.
In this regard, the situation with the high-end Dimensity 1000 is not as good as the Dimensity 800 series. Recent supply chain news said that MediaTek has emergency supplemental up 50% of orders. It turns out the expected Q3 shipments are 2-3 times higher than that of the Q2.
MediaTek only released the Dimensity 820 processor in mid- May this year. But it is the fifth 5G SoC of MediaTek after the Dimensity 1000, Dimensity 1000L, Dimensity 1000+, and Dimensity 800.
Dimensity 820 Parameters
The Dimensity 820 is manufactured using TSMC’s 7nm process and integrates an eight-core CPU, including four large-core A76 2.6GHz and four small-core A55 2.0GHz. It is the first to introduce the flagship quad-core architecture into the mainstream platform. The company claims that the multi-core performance is 37% better than other products at the same level. At the same time, it is equipped with the Mali-G57 MC5 GPU graphics core with a frequency of 900MHz and supports HyperEngine 2.0 game enhancement engine.

In terms of 5G, the Dimensity 820 continues the advanced 5G technology of the Dimensity 1000 series. It integrates the leading 5G baseband, and can fully support the 5G NSA/SA dual module network. The 5G dual carrier aggregation technology can increase the coverage of 5G signals by 30 %. And it comes with the world’s exclusive support for 5G + 5G dual card dual standby.
