Last year, the Xiaomi TV was the first in China in terms of shipment and sales volume. This year, the momentum of Xiaomi TV was strong in the first quarter. For Xiaomi TV, how can it further consolidate its market position? Constantly innovating, enriching market segment products is definitely a recipe.
Nowadays, in Xiaomi’s product line, most TVs are oriented to the mainstream consumer market, focusing on high cost-performance ratio. But honestly, there has never been a product that can match the international first-line high-end flagship products. Also, it lacks the layout in the OLED high-end market segment. But its ‘haters’ can’t talk about this anymore. Just, recently, it launched the Xiaomi TV Master 65-inch OLED, which is regarded as Xiaomi’s first high-end flagship TV product. Also, we are dealing with the first Xiaomi TV sporting an OLED screen.

As the first high-end TV under Xiaomi, the Xiaomi TV Master 65-inch OLED uses a 4K OLED panel. This display panel has a 10-bit color depth, a 120Hz ultra-high refresh rate, and a 120Hz MEMC motion compensation, a 1ms response time and more than 1000000:1 static contrast ratio, while the DCI-P3 color gamut reaches 98.5%. And it has a Dolby Vision certification. In terms of sound, the built-in 9 speaker unit has a sound system with a total power of 65W and supports Dolby Atmos.
From the point of view of parameters, the Xiaomi TV Master 65-inch OLED almost uses the industry’s top configuration. The Xiaomi TV, which has become the top seller in China, will hit the high-end market again. So how does this OLED TV priced at 12,999 yuan ($1851) perform?

Appearance
However, there is still an actual question – is this a flagship product or a cost-effective product. But in order to answer this question, let’s start from the appearance. The 65-inch OLED of Xiaomi TV Master adopts a four-sided borderless full-screen design. When the TV is turned off, there is almost no physical border visible on the front. And the thickness of the side of the middle frame can only be seen slightly. Because of this, the screen ratio of 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV Master has reached 98.8%.

The middle frame adopts a seamless one-piece molding process. The thinnest upper half of the TV is only 4.6mm thick.

When the TV is turned on, the screen panel has a little black border, but it is not obvious when viewed from a distance.

From today’s perspective, the design of the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV Master is rare. In fact, this is not a kind of conservatism, but it is a bit radical, and even hidden mystery. The base of the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV Master has a glass base.

Well, the notification light doesn’t have any special significance in technology products. In fact, it can be considered as a bonus design element. Through the breathing light, users will find an extra feeling of interactive communication with the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’.

In addition to the glass material of the base, Xiaomi designers also used a silk screen process to create a gradient black texture. At the same time, the logo of Xiaomi appears in the center of the base. Although this base is beautiful, it is also not light in weight.

Compared to the front of the fuselage, the back looks relatively mediocre. In addition to the relatively thin upper part of the fuselage, the lower part is still quite thick. In terms of interface layout, the connection position of the power cord has a wiring opening in the lower left corner of the back. The main audio and video links and data transmission interfaces are arranged on the right side of the back of the fuselage.

Specifically, the interfaces on the back include 2 USB interfaces and 3 HDMI interfaces. The three interfaces are HDMI 2.1. But one is eARC, one is 4K 120Hz, and the other is a conventional HDMI 2.1 interface. Three of them support HDMI 2.1 high-speed transmission. There is also an AV interface, an ATV/DTMB interface, an Ethernet interface, an S/PDIF (Optical Optical Fiber) interface.
A 4-microphone array is provided in front of the fuselage to support Xiaomi’s Xiaoai far-field voice control.
It is worth mentioning that the HDMI2.1 standard protocol interface supports 4K 120Hz image quality input, supports HDR high dynamic contrast, variable refresh rate VRR and automatic low delay mode ALLM. This is especially suitable for external use of game consoles. So no matter of the PS5 or Xbox Series X, both can be perfectly adapted.

The hardware configuration is actually a prerequisite for achieving high-end picture quality. So the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ is still quite sufficient in terms of hardware. It sports the MTK 9650 quad-core processor with a Cortex-A73. Also, it integrates a Mali G52 MC1 graphics GPU platform. At the same time, the TV supports 5.1 and 7.1 channel Dolby source.
In addition to daily processing work, this processor also provides 1T computing power due to the APU neural network computing unit. It supports AI Master sound and picture engine. The storage configuration of 3GB+32GB exceeds the mainstream 65-inch products currently on the market. In terms of wireless connection, the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ supports dual-band 802.11ac (2T2R dual-receive and dual-transmit) and Bluetooth 5.0 connection standards.

Performance
The most important element of a TV is its audio and video quality experience. In order to create a flagship product of the same size that can match the international first-line brand, the Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ 65-inch OLED should be considered in all aspects.

This is also the first OLED panel TV of Xiaomi. It can bring users 82.9 million pixels of independent light control.

The 178-degree viewing angle allows users to see clear picture quality, and there will be no obvious brightness reduction and color cast due to the viewing angle. From the display samples, the colors are bright, the texture of the water surface is clear, and the dark part is very full.

In addition, it has reached the 98.5% P3 wide color gamut standard, which is what used in the film industry. The typical value of the color standard has reached Delta E 1.5, which can be directly used as a post-production film.

At the same time, in this photo, the independent light control characteristics of OLED can be very well displayed.
AI dynamic scene recognition is a function realized by the intelligent analysis and recognition of the deep customization of independent APU neural network computing unit. It can identify 5 different scenes and perform frame-by-frame synchronization adjustment, which can improve the expressiveness of image quality from various aspects of image quality algorithm, color, clarity and contrast. For example, in sports scenes, the MEMC insertion frame will improve the dynamic performance of the picture. In the documentary viewing mode of the presentation, the resolution and color will be optimized according to the focus of the scene, and the dynamic contrast will be increased to enhance the true texture of the picture.

For example, a football game is a very typical scene. In such a scene, the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ will turn on 120Hz MEMC motion compensation. It estimates the motion of objects and track tasks through the hardware algorithm in the TV. By inserting compensation frames in the original picture sequence, it makes the moving picture look smoother and greatly reduce the problem of smear and afterimage. You will find that the ball swiping fast on the green field becomes a real circle instead of an ellipse that swipes across the screen.
The 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ itself provides 10-bit color depth, professional-grade color accuracy, and AI dynamic scene recognition to ensure picture quality.

Dynamic HDR as a soft power supplement further enhances the picture quality. HDR10+ high dynamic contrast can be combined with Dolby Vision image technology to make the picture show a more vivid visual experience in several dimensions of brightness, contrast and color. The effect is very similar to the HDR shooting mode on the smartphone. It can effectively increase the emotional appeal of the picture. From the content shown in the above figure, due to the better contrast and color performance, the main body of the character can be separated from the wall, and the picture adds a sense of depth of field.

The 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ has a blue light wavelength between 460nm and 480nm. It is not within the wavelength range of harmful blue light. So it is inherently low blue eye protection, and it is less likely to cause eye fatigue.

The sound quality is also a big selling point of the 65-inch OLED Xiaomi TV ‘Master’. 9 speaker units and a total of 65W ultra-high-power audio system are the hardware prerequisites for this TV to have good sound. With the AI algorithm of the AI Master sound quality engine, users can experience the feeling of sound coming from all directions.

Specifically, the Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ includes 2 sets of full-range sound-generating units (including 1 tweeter and 1 woofer), a total of 4 speaker units, covering the wide-band response area by way of the bottom out; 2 domes surround the speaker to achieve a sense of spatial sound field. A deep submersible subwoofer with 1.9L ultra-large resonance cavity and two passive radiators can output ultra-low frequency sounds as low as 50Hz.

At the same time, the Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ also supports Dolby Atmos 2.1.2 certification, and is compatible with all Dolby sources, including 5.1-channel Dolby sources, bringing full-scenario audio enjoyment.

Final Words
The experience and impression left by Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ 65-inch OLED is beyond expectations. Compared with the regular Xiaomi TV, the 65-inch OLED TV has a significant improvement in product performance. Especially in the two aspects of picture quality and sound quality, it can be considered that Xiaomi has finally jumped out of the circle and has competed with foreign flagship brands.

Although Xiaomi is known for its great cost-over-performance ratio, the 65-inch OLED of Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ is limited by cost factors such as design, materials and promotion. The price is 12,999 yuan ($1861). And though it’s too high, when comparing horizontally, the Xiaomi TV ‘Master’ 65-inch OLED price still has some advantages.
